Situation one

There's something here I can have now. I just can't see it clearly enough to grab it.

Not a rescue. Not a rebuild. Something is already working, or nearly working, and you want a second pair of eyes on it before the window closes.

In your words

Is this you?

The business I was trying to build with a bigger budget already existed inside the conversion rate I was ignoring.
I don't ever really get to take a step back. I'm always a little tense wondering what might fall through the cracks.
The store is not failing, which is what makes this weird.
I think I became the system without realizing it.

The diagnosis

What's usually going on

Almost always one of three things, and they need different answers:

  • A common blocker. Something ordinary is jammed, pricing, packaging, an entry point, a step in the funnel nobody owns. It is not interesting and it is not hard once it is named.
  • A pivotal decision. You are about to pick a direction and the cost of picking wrong is high enough that you have stopped picking at all.
  • A big mistake in progress. You already suspect it. You want someone to look at it before it compounds.

The reason to buy this small is that all three are cheap to diagnose and expensive to sit on.

Scope

What this is not

  • Not a strategy document. It is five pages if it needs to be five pages.
  • Not implementation. I don't build it for you at this price and I won't pretend otherwise.
  • Not a foot in the door. If the answer is do nothing, here's why, that is a completed engagement.

What happens

Step 1

Research

I read what exists, numbers, pages, contracts, whatever the thing runs on.

Step 2

Investigate

I go looking for the part you have stopped seeing, because you look at it daily.

Step 3

Report

Written. Short. Yours to keep and act on without me.

Step 4

Review, in person

We go through it live. You argue with it. That is the point.

Step 5

The next move

One thing to do next, and what it should produce.

What I need from you

Access to the actual numbers, and one honest hour. The doctor can't help if you don't state your pains and allow examination.

This is an invitation, not a qualification gate. Nobody is being screened out.

What you get

What you get, every time, in three parts:

  • Everything you need to understand it.
  • The models and the methods to see it through without me.
  • The other routes, and why they aren't taken, shouldn't be taken, or can't be taken yet.

The price

A ceiling, not a starting point. If it turns out this is a real engagement, I tell you in the room and the thousand credits against the bigger thing. You do not pay twice for the same diagnosis.

If you're not sure this is the right thing to buy

There is a thin pass called Readiness, $1,000, and it credits against whatever you do next. Its two possible outputs are Do and Do not do, because…. The second one is a real answer, and it is the one people remember.

A week of looking

On camera

There is something in front of you that is working, or nearly working, and you cannot get a clean look at it because you look at it every day. That is a week of looking, not a project.

Start with a call.

Up to ninety minutes on one real problem, and you set the length. If it was worth something, pay what it was worth. If it was not, we shake hands and you owe me nothing.
